  1. PROMOTION PERIOD: The Safeway & Dr. Pepper College Tuition Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) begins 12:00 AM (midnight) Pacific Time (“PT”) on 8/1/18 and ends 11:59 PM PT on 10/2/18 (the “Promotion Period”).

  2. ELIGIBILITY: Open to legal U.S. residents, residing in the states of California, Hawaii or Nevada, 18 years of age and older at time of entry. Employees of Albertsons Companies, Inc. (“Sponsor”), Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Inc., Don Jagoda Associates, Inc. (“Administrator”), their respective parents, subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, suppliers, distributors and advertising, promotional and judging agencies (collectively “Released Parties”) and the immediate family members (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) and household members of each, are not eligible. Void outside CA, HI, NV and where prohibited. All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.


    • VIA PURCHASE AT A PARTICIPATING SAFEWAY STORE:  Present your Safeway Club Card (“Club Card”) when making a purchase of any qualifying Dr. Pepper and/or Safeway Store Brand product(s), beginning 12:00 AM PT on 8/1/18 through 11:59 PM PT on 10/2/18 (the “Safeway Purchase Period”), at a participating Safeway store in the states of California, Hawaii or Nevada to receive one (1) Entry into the Sweepstakes (“Club Card Entry” or “Entry”). Look for signs in-store identifying the “Qualifying Products”. Limit one (1) Entry per Qualifying Product. If you do not have a Club Card, you may apply for a free card at the Customer Service Desk at any participating Safeway store. If you do not have your Club Card with you, you may use your home telephone number to enter. For Club Card entrants, the entry will be deemed to have been made by the primary cardholder of the Club Card number associated with the phone number in Safeway’s system. Club Card Entries must be received by 11:59 PM PT on 10/2/18 to be included in the Grand Prize Drawing.

    • NO PURCHASE NECESSARY:  To enter without making a purchase, on a plain piece of 3” x 5” paper, hand print your complete name, street address (no P.O. Boxes), city, state, ZIP code, date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy), daytime and evening telephone numbers and (optional) valid email address. Mail in a hand-addressed, business-size (#10) envelope with first-class postage affixed, to: Safeway & Dr. Pepper College Tuition Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 7699, Melville, NY 11775-7699 (“Mailed Entry” or “Entry”). Limit one (1) Mailed Entry per envelope.  No mechanically reproduced Mailed Entries permitted. Mailed Entries must be postmarked by 10/2/18 and received by 10/9/18 to be included in the Grand Prize Drawing.

  4. RANDOM DRAWING: Twenty-three (23) Grand Prize Winners (“winners”) will be selected in a random drawing on or about 10/10/18 from among all eligible Entries received during the Promotion Period. Odds of winning a Grand Prize depend upon the total number of eligible Entries received throughout the Promotion Period. Random drawing will be conducted by the Administrator, an independent judging organization, whose decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Limit one (1) Grand Prize per person/family/household.

  5. GRAND PRIZES: Twenty-three (23) Grand Prizes will be awarded as a Two Thousand Dollar ($2,000) “Tuition Award”. Each Tuition Award is payable as follows:

    1. As Tuition Award to cover up to four (4) consecutive years of college or postsecondary vocational institution tuitions, fees, books, supplies, equipment, related educational expenses and on-campus room and board to be awarded in the form of a check distributed to the school (eligible under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended) and located in the United States on behalf of the winner or the winner’s designee, who must at least 16 years of age (“designee”); or

    2. To pay off student loans incurred for eligible costs in (a) above in the form of a check distributed to the lending institution on behalf of the winner or winner’s designee; or

    3. A combination of (a) and (b) above in an amount not to exceed the Grand Prize amount.  

    All Tuition Awards will be administered by Innovative Processing Inc. (“Scholarship Company”), and are subject to the following and all other terms of these Official Rules. Tuition Award is to be used for postsecondary education expenses at an accredited two- or four-year college, technical school, vocational school, or master or doctorate degree programs in the United States. Tuition Award may be used to pay current educational expenses, student loans incurred in a previous academic year, or combination of both. Checks for the full amount will be sent to the institution designated by the winners. Payment applied to educational loans will be payable to the loan servicing company on behalf of the student. (Tuition Award may be considered taxable and Form 1099-Miscellaneous Income will be issued.)

    Tuition Award may be used for current educational expenses until the expiration date of 12/31/23 (the “Expiration Date”) or until a degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Following completion of a degree program, the winner may opt to continue to pursue another degree level until the Tuition Award expires or use towards existing educational loans. At the request of the winner, he/she may designate that the tuition proceeds be awarded to another designee to be used for eligible education purposes as provided herein. 

    The winner must notify the Scholarship Company of his/her intent to give the Tuition Award to a designee. Scholarship Company will set aside the funds until such time as the designee notifies the Scholarship Company that he/she is read to use the funds for eligible education-related expenses. The Tuition Award shall be transferred one time only. The initial Tuition Award winner must supply the following identifying information about the designee: full name, address, phone number, date of birth, relationship, and postsecondary school information (if known at such time). The Scholarship Company shall not transfer the Tuition Award to the designee until such time as the identifying information is verified by the designee and to the satisfaction of the Scholarship Company. The initial Tuition Award winner shall be responsible for completing and filing the required Gift Tax Forms with the Internal Revenue Service. There may be a tax liability to the winner and the winner should consult with a tax expert before making this decision. An IRS 1099 will be issued to the winner. Any tax liability will be the responsibility of the winner. Designees must be at least 16 years of age or older.

  6. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION: Potential winners will be notified by mail/email/phone and will be asked to provide additional information, including email address, so that an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form and a Publicity Release (where lawful) (“Prize Documents”) can be sent to the potential winners for completion. Potential winners will be required to sign and return Prize Documents via email/fax within three (3) days of notification attempt or prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected.

  7. GENERAL RULES: By participating in this Sweepstakes and/or winning a prize, entrants/winners agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and decisions of Sponsor and judges which shall be final in all respects relating to the Sweepstakes, including without limitation the interpretation of these Official Rules. All applicable federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winners. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the Sweepstakes process or violates these Official Rules. ATTEMPTS TO UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROMOTION MAY VIOLATE CIVIL AND CRIMINAL LAWS AND SPONSOR MAY SEEK REMEDIES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT UNDER LAW. Neither the Sponsor nor Released Parties assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information including, but not limited to, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, printing errors, lost/delayed/garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software, Entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted, damaged, destroyed, forged, false, lost, late or misdirected, deceptive or otherwise not in compliance with the Official Rules or any combination thereof. In the event this Sweepstakes is compromised or becomes technically corrupted in any way, electronically or otherwise, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate or suspend the Club Card method of entry of the Sweepstakes and in such event to select remaining winners by random drawing from among all valid Club Card Entries received up to such time of cancellation, termination or suspension, and all eligible Mailed Entries received. Sponsor and Released Parties shall have no liability or responsibility for any claim arising in connection with participation in the Sweepstakes or any prize awarded. Winners assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, including death, by participation in the Sweepstakes or use or redemption of any prize. Acceptance of any prize constitutes permission to use winners’ names and likenesses for publicity purposes without further compensation except where prohibited by law. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the Sweepstakes materials or the offering or announcement of the prizes. You hereby represent and warrant that you have read these Official Rules and are fully familiar with its contents. Except where prohibited, Sponsor reserves the right to make all decisions in its sole discretion arising out of or relating to the Sweepstakes, and the decisions by Sponsor are final and binding on all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. Except where prohibited, you agree that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with the Sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of Idaho; (b) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) notwithstanding the foregoing, you waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the United States of America and the State of Idaho, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the laws of the State of Washington or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than State of Idaho. By participating, you further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties and their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders and employees from and against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and liability of any kind resulting from or in connection with the Sweepstakes or the Prizes.

PRIVACY: Any personal information that you provide in connection with the Sweepstakes shall be used by Sponsor and Administrator to administer this Sweepstakes, contact entrants, and for the other purposes set forth in the Sponsor’s privacy policy located at http:/ By entering this Sweepstakes you agree to and accept that privacy policy. If entrant authorizes, by opting in, Sponsor may provide entrant with information relating to products, services and promotions of Sponsor and affiliates of Sponsor.
